You may have received a text from us in the past few days if you are a tenant claiming Universal Credit and housing costs to pay your rent.
If you have received a text from Bernicia you must let the Department of Work and Pensions know about the recent change in your rent payment.
It’s important to do so.
It will only take a few minutes and will ensure you don’t miss out on the money you are due.
To make things as easy as possible for you, the DWP will send a ‘To Do’ notification to your online UC Journal in the first week of April.
By telling the DWP about your rent rise, your Universal Credit will be increased to cover your new rent and you won’t miss out on the benefits you are due.
Please do not complete this action before April 1st.
If you pay by standing order, you need to speak with your bank about increasing your payment.
Make sure you include your rent reference number so your payment reaches your account without delay.
If you are no longer in receipt of Universal Credit or have any questions or concerns then please contact us via Messenger or at rentincome@bernicia.com with your name and address so that we can update our records.
Please note that the text we sent you does not include your water charges or any other charge not covered by Universal Credit.
