Employment Programmes

Working in partnership to deliver employment and training opportunities across our region

We have three programmes to help local people access local jobs in Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside

Green Start offers training and 6 month paid placements with employers who have a focus on developing the greener side of their business.

New Start offers training and 6 month paid placements with local employers for social housing tenants*.

BOOST provides advice, support and access to jobs with links to local employers

These placement opportunities need to be filled by 30 September 2024, so don’t miss out, apply now. For more details contact employabiltiyteam@bernicia.com

New Start and Green Start placements are living wage roles, 50% of which is funded by the programme, and 50% by the employer. The number of hours to be worked each week depends upon the needs of the person and the business but will typically be between 16 and 30 hours per week.

Each person in placement will receive employability support alongside developing skills and experience in their new roles.

*New Start, is designed exclusively for social housing tenants. Examples include people living in homes provided by Housing Associations like Bernicia, Home Group, Karbon, Places for People, and Local Authorities such as Advance Northumberland, North Tyneside Council and Your Homes Newcastle.

If you’re interested in a new opportunity or you’re an employer looking to hire new colleagues, contact us at employabilityteam@bernicia.com to find out how we can help,
