We’ve received several reports recently from concerned tenants telling us about people claiming to be acting on behalf of Bernicia calling unannounced at their homes or cold calling them on the telephone.
Callers at the door asked to come into their homes to check the condition of their property. Voicemails have also been left for tenants claiming to be from ‘their landlord’ – which they are not.
We want to reassure tenants that Bernicia employees will always try to make an appointment with you before calling at your home. Sometimes this isn’t always possible but all Bernicia employees carry identification and will be more than happy to show it if asked.
Our staff will not leave a phone message for you saying we are calling from ‘your landlord’ – if you aren’t in when we call you, we will leave a message to confirm we are from Bernicia, leave a contact name and phone number for you to call and a reason for contacting you.
