New Year. New homes!

Our £7m scheme of 32 new homes at Stakeford is nearing completion – great homes at social rents in a hugely popular area.

We’re aiming for the mix of two, three and four bedroom houses and two and three bedroom bungalows to be completed in March.

The new estate – named Bamburgh Way – is part of Bernicia’s suite of new build properties across Stakeford, Guidepost and Choppington, tackling the acute need for quality new and affordable homes in south east Northumberland.

We’re delivering:

• Bamburgh Way, Stakeford – 32 new homes built by contractor United Living for social rent, the lowest form of rent and less than private rentals in the local area
• Willow Farm, Choppington – 37 detached and semi-detached houses in the Ascent Homes scheme, for social rent, rent to buy and shared ownership.
• The Square, Guidepost – six of the most energy efficient homes we’ve ever built, all now occupied
• In total, 75 new properties being delivered to help young people get onto the property ladder, young couples, families and people downsizing in these popular south east Northumberland communities.
• Bernicia is committed to building over 200 homes across the region in the current financial year, helping North East Mayor Kim McGuinness meet her target of increasing the supply of social and affordable housing in the region.

The new properties at Stakeford come complete with electric vehicle charging points and swift and bat boxes to encourage nesting birds into the area.

The Stakeford scheme benefits from £2.4m of Homes England grant.

The Bamburgh Way properties will all be advertised for rental on Northumberland Homefinder www.northumberlandhomefinder.org.uk , the choice based letting website where people who are registered on the website can bid for homes.
