Area Housing Officer

We have a great opportunity for an Area Housing Officer to join the Bernicia Living housing team, based in Durham.

The purpose of this role will be to deliver an outstanding housing management service to Bernicia’s customers. In this, you will be engaging with customers to ensure our services meet their expectations and priorities and striving to continually improve services and exceed performance targets.

As an Area Housing Officer you will provide an invaluable service in housing our tenants, as well as contribute to creating sustainable communities.  You will oversee a patch of communal locations in South Tyneside, Sunderland, Hartlepool and County Durham, ensuring that signups are completed whilst also managing any tenancy challenges that arise. You will have line management responsibilities for colleagues working at these communal locations supporting them to provide an excellent customer experience. 

Close partnership working with external organisations and statutory bodies will be essential when signposting our tenants for additional support and guidance when needed.  This role requires an empathetic yet pragmatic approach to ensure an excellent all-round service that meets the needs of our tenants.

You will identify opportunities for service improvements, make recommendations and deliver changes effectively and efficiently, in line with participating in new initiatives for service delivery. You will also aim to provide customers with the opportunity to influence and shape policies, service delivery, standards and scrutinise performance.

This post also incorporates elements of budget management, and you will be expected to contribute to annual budget and priority setting tasking. 

Salary: £35,211 per annum (inclusive of car allowance)

Permanent – Full Time, 37 hours per week
