Ray and Colin's gardening success

Talented gardeners Ray Chaytor and Colin Shaw have scooped a special award for their horticultural talent.
The green-fingered duo impressed judges at East Bedlington Parish Council Garden Competition so much that they have given them a special award for outstanding effort to go alongside their highly commended accolade in the competition’s Best Back Yard category.
The friends – both residents at our Sleekburn House retirement housing scheme in Bedlington Station – turned their skills to adding a splash of colour to the property’s courtyard garden, which caught the eyes of judges.
Ray and Colin (pictured) showed off their planting skills and flair for floral colour – enjoyed everyday by residents, staff and visitors alike.
The annual East Bedlington Garden Competition scours the local area looking for the very best allotments, hanging baskets and backyards nurtured by amateur gardeners.
Judges told Ray and Colin in a letter: “Councillors have asked us to thank you for allowing them the pleasure of visiting your garden.
“The judging panel reported that the entries this year have been exceptional. We’re delighted to inform you that your entry has been judged as highly commended and the judges have awarded a special award for outstanding effort.”
Next stop for Ray and Colin is presentation night on Saturday September 10th at East Bedlington Community Centre.
Many congratulations Ray and Colin!
