Bernicia support for Wansbeck Valley Foodbank

Great to support Wansbeck Valley Foodbank in the run up to Christmas to help them with their important work across south east Northumberland.

Our Chief Executive John Johnston met with Operations Trustee Linda Fugill (pictured left) and Foodbank Coordinator Tracey Brown to present them with a cheque for £1,000 and learn how the charity will make maximum use of the donation.

In total, Bernicia has donated £3,000 to foodbanks across the North East this winter.

“Thank you so much Bernicia for your very generous donation which will be used to purchase food items that we find ourselves short of over the coming months, “ said Tracey.

“This food will be provided to those in need in the local communities who cannot afford to buy food for themselves.

“The current economic crisis has meant more and more people, including families with very young children, are having to turn to the foodbank for help.”

John Johnston said: “The support of Wansbeck Valley Foodbank and others across our region has never been more vital, with the economic crisis biting deep for many people and families this winter.

“We know how tough life is for people – we are supporting our tenants with all the means at our disposal, through a wide range of support services which will continue to respond to their changing needs.”
