David Pye

David is an experienced construction and housing professional with more than three decades of experience across asset management, property services, repairs and maintenance, major investment, building safety and sustainability. A Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, with a background in quantity surveying as both client and contractor, he has held senior roles across complex housing and construction environments.

David is passionate about high-quality, customer-focused services and has significant experience leading teams through change, improving performance and developing collaborative ways of working. He combines strategic planning with commercial awareness to help achieve social and financial value from Bernicia’s assets.

Prior to becoming Executive Director, David led strategic asset management, investment and property-related services, shaping Bernicia’s approach to safe, decent and sustainable homes, landlord compliance, retrofit and environmental sustainability, while overseeing the continuous improvement of Bernicia’s repairs division, ensuring a customer focused, cost-effective service is delivered.

In his role, David is focused on ensuring Bernicia’s homes meet current and future customer needs, comply with required standards, and support excellent services, strong regulatory assurance and sustainable communities across the North East.
