Safeguarding Adults Policy

This policy sets out how we deliver responsive services to adults at risk and to ensure that any adult identified is protected and kept safe from harm while they are in receipt of services provided by us.

Our priority is to keep every tenant safe from abuse, neglect, and harm. If we have any concerns that an adult may be at risk, we will take action straight away and work with the right authorities to protect them. We take all concerns raised seriously. A safeguarding concern can be raised by anyone, including tenants, staff, family members, neighbours, or other agencies. We follow the law set out in the Care Act 2014, which means we must work closely with local councils, the NHS, and the police to help keep adults safe.

Abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, sexual, financial, neglect, domestic abuse, discrimination, and more. Tenants will always be treated with dignity, respect, and choice, and we will support them to stay as independent as possible. To prevent abuse, we make sure staff are properly trained, and we provide clear information to tenants and the public.

If we think a tenant may be at risk, we have clear steps to follow. Our staff are trained to recognise, identify and raise potential cases of abuse and risk, and we have designated roles who are responsible for reporting safeguarding concerns. We will always act to reduce any immediate risk and support the tenant throughout the process. We will ensure tenants know about their right to protection and they will be provided with advice and support.

Tenants have the right to know what abuse is, how to report concerns, and where to get help. If you would like to know more, please read our policy below.
