The North East Housing Partnership (NEHP) has launched its new prospectus ‘Building Better Lives’ pledging a decade of development and regeneration.
The partnership consists of 20 housing associations and local authorities working together to build more new homes, renew more older properties and make homes more energy efficient and warmer to live in.
Over the next ten years the partnership plans to build over 15,000 new homes aligning its work with the priorities of North East Mayor Kim McGuinness and the North East Combined Authority.
The new prospectus launch event in Sunderland’s Housing Innovation Construction Skills Academy heard from Karbon Homes Chief Executive Paul Fiddaman, who served as the first Chair of the NEHP, and how the partnership has delivered over its first three years, and from new Chair and Bernicia Chief Executive John Johnston and Vice Chair and Gentoo Chief Executive Louise Bassett, setting out their ambitions for a decade of renewal in the North East.
Over the next phase of the partnership, four key workstreams will be driven forward:
Developmental and Regeneration
🏡 Quality of Homes and Investment
🏥 Better Lives, Skills and Inclusion
🧑🍼 Homelessness, specialist and supported accommodation
North East Mayor Kim McGuinness talked powerfully about the importance of social housing in delivering stability and dignity for people in the region, which ultimately leads to better outcomes for everyone, and challenged all partners to go further and faster on standards and plans.
