Bernicia has further strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of three new directors into key roles within the business.
Highly experienced housing professional Kirstie Kelly joins Bernicia as the new Director of Housing Services, while Louise Tinkler and Jeff Boyd are promoted into the roles of Director of People Services and Director of Development respectively.
They will help drive forward Bernicia’s ambitious corporate strategy which commits us to significant investment into service delivery, investment in existing homes and the development of at least 600 new homes over the next three years.
Kirstie has more than 20 years’ leadership experience at private, public and not-for-profit organisations across the North East.
“I am delighted to be joining Bernicia at such an exciting time, driving forward their ambitious corporate strategy until 2026 and allowing me the opportunity to be part of shaping their housing and communities agenda,” said Kirstie.

Louise is a highly experienced HR leader, with strategic and operational leadership experience over 20 years developing and delivering HR strategies and large-scale cultural change programmes to drive business transformation.
“I am thrilled to move into the Director of People Services role – Bernicia places people at the centre of all its strategies, ensuring we maintain customer focus through working together, respecting each other, being accountable for our actions and demonstrating integrity and leadership,” said Louise.
“The People Services team will continue to build upon the ‘Bernicia Way’ culture, strengthening our position as a dynamic, modern, and forward-thinking employer, enabling us to retain, develop and attract talented people.”
Jeff, a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, began his career with Bernicia 16 years ago as a development manager
