Major home refurbishment programme

Home refurbishment works at North Shields with 0800 Repair Team and Bernicia Head of Property Ryan Irving-Carr

0800 Repair, part of Pacifica Group, is supporting a major home refurbishment programme across the North East for Bernicia with the installation of more than 600 new bathrooms and kitchens.

The Houghton-le-Spring-based company has been working with our in-house maintenance division to undertake the refurbishments in homes across County Durham, Newcastle, Northumberland and North Shields.

A team of 16 expert tradespeople, including plumbers, joiners, electricians, plasterers, builders, tilers and flooring specialists, along with a contract manager and site supervisor, are engaged with the works.

Among the larger projects are 239 kitchen installations at Lane Ends in Ashington and 117 bathrooms, which are currently being installed at Callaly Way in Walker, Newcastle.

The programme is part of our ongoing home maintenance activities, which includes the delivery of more than 75,000 repairs, maintenance and service operations to more than 14,000 properties from Redcar to Berwick-on-Tweed.

It is also the latest project in an ongoing relationship between 0800 Repair and Bernicia.  Working alongside our gas compliance team, 0800 Repair has completed 2,000 gas boiler services at homes across the North East, in addition to more than 50 boiler replacements.

Kevin Anderson, Head of Social Housing at 0800 Repair, said: “We have developed a very collaborative relationship with Bernicia over the past 18 months, which is ensuring projects such as the kitchen and bathroom installations are delivered efficiently with minimal disruption to the tenants.

“Through our dedicated social housing division, we have established agreements with a number of housing providers in the North East, which is testament to our commitment to quality workmanship and high standards of service.”

Ryan Irving-Carr, Bernicia Head of Property, said: “The refurbishment programme with the 0800 Repair team is part of Bernicia’s £70m investment in our homes and communities over a five-year period.

“We are committed to investing in our properties to maintain their quality, helping create houses people are proud to call home.”
