Residents at Callaly Way retirement scheme in Walker take part in Pilates class

Keeping mind and body healthy is important to residents at Bernicia’s Callaly Way retirement housing scheme in Walker.

The Diana Princess of Wales House is the venue for regular Pilates classes hosted by professionals from our friends at Tyne and Wear Sport.

Bringing residents together promotes physical and mental well-being and the positive impact is already being felt.

Resident Bill said: “It’s a good thing for people to get into. I used to train regularly having played football until I was 37-years-old.

“Sessions such as Pilates helps me keep fit and toned. It’s a really friendly atmosphere and I do hope it continues.”

And fellow resident Sheila added: “The sessions have been of great benefit, helping me with some of the physical problems that I have.

“I feel relaxed and able to focus on my breathing techniques, something that I can also do now outside the session.”
