Bernicia tenants can have their dogs micro-chipped for free later this month at an event with the Dogs Trust national charity and Durham County Council.
Bernicia is offering free dog micro-chipping as well as a basic health care check for pets to our tenants and residents of our estates.
Many thousands of dogs go missing every year and it is estimated that less than half of them are reunited with their owners.
By getting a treasured pet micro-chipped, owners have the reassurance that should their dog be lost or stolen, they are more likely to be returned safe and sound.
Micro-chipping can cost between £20 and £30 at a vets, so it makes financial sense as well for our tenants to head along to the event at the Laurel Avenue Community Centre, The Woodlands. Gilesgate, Durham, DH1 2EY on Tuesday March 28th, between 11am and 3pm.
Since April 2016, it is a legal requirement for dogs to be micro-chipped.
