Cracking Easter event a hit with local community15th April 2019
Dozens of local families made it an Easter get together to remember at the Bedlington Learning Hive.
Egg decorating, face painting, hook a duck, splat the rat and a raffle were just some of the games and attractions which pulled in the crowds at the popular community learning hub in Bedlington Station.
Nicola Robinson, Bernicia’s Steve Burke and the learning hive team saw all their efforts to make it a great day for the local community pay off handsomely with 40 families and their children attending the Easter eggs-travaganza.
Plants, flowers and fruit and vegetables grown in the hive’s greenhouse were on sale to the public, alongside tea coffee, homemade cakes and cookies.
The photo shows four-year-old Lyra and her mother Louise making the most of the cracking event.
All of the proceeds from the day will be ploughed back into meeting some of the day to day expenses of running the hive, which operates from a Bernicia property and is run by the Northern Learning Trust. This includes supporting the community garden at the hive and help to provide free training and support for local people.
A big thanks from the organisers for the support of local businesses and hive volunteers for making the day happen – that’s the Co-op distribution facility in Birtley, Morrison’s Bedlington, Cold Cuts Deli, Wetherspoons Red Lion, MK Studio hairdressers, RN Cowell family butchers, Wrights of Bedlington bakers and Love to Shop.
