House Manager

Kingston – Orchard House, Durham.

Salary: £5,433.30 per annum.

10 hours per week (Mon – Fri).

Company Pension.

 

Kingston is now advertising for a House Manager to join our team at Orchard House, Durham, on a permanent part-time basis. This role could be residential or non-residential depending on the successful candidate’s preference; a two bedroomed flat could be supplied to live in if required.

The role of a House Manager will involve effectively and professionally managing the day to day running of an independent living retirement development, through ensuring the building is a safe, secure, and well-maintained environment for residents.

To be successful in the role of House Manager you will present a helpful and approachable image, promoting good communications between those with whom they interact, including contractors and service providers, to enhance residents’ quality of life and help create a safe and friendly environment.

 

This role will include:

  • Conducting weekly fire alarm testing.
  • Doing a daily health and safety inspection of the block inside and out, to check for any issues such as leaks, or repairs needed.
  • Greeting contractors on arrival and assisting them with the locations of repairs needed.
  • Taking action in the event of an emergency and calling the appropriate authorities when necessary, and updating Kingston of any such events so they can be recorded.

 

Essential criteria a House Manager will need to possess:

  • Experience of working with the public.
  • Ability to make the correct decisions and recognise diverse needs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (speech and writing).
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals (face to face and telephone).
  • General knowledge of maintained services in communal buildings, including testing of the fire alarm.
