Bright sparks exam success

Huge congratulations to Bernicia electricians, Sarah Boyle and Scott Edwards who have passed their final exam to become fully Inspection and Testing qualified.

The final qualification needed by both Scott and Sarah was the EAL Level 3 Award in Electrical Installation Inspection, Testing, Certification and Reporting which involves taking a five-day exam that tests skills and knowledge in the testing of electrical installations. Both passed the notoriously difficult exam on their first attempt – a huge achievement.

Scott joined Bernicia in October 2018 having previously worked for one of our contractors. He hit the ground running from day one and as well as having sound electrical skills and knowledge, has fitted right in with the team.

Sarah is reaping the rewards of a life-changing decision and plugging into career success. After eight years’ customer service work with a supermarket she decided that it wasn’t for her and headed to college starting down the path to becoming a fully qualified electrician. Sarah then joined Bernicia in September 2017 to complete an apprenticeship which she passed this year with flying colours.

Sean Watson, team leader – repairs and maintenance (electrical services), said: “I cannot put in words how difficult this exam is and how proud we are with their achievements. Both Scott and Sarah are highly competent and knowledgeable electricians and I’m over the moon that all their hard work to become fully qualified has paid off.

“It also means that now every member of the electrical team holds their Inspection and Testing qualification with the exception of our current apprentices. As well as being great for the business in terms of electrical compliance, our customers and colleagues can be assured they’re receiving high quality electrical services from a fully trained and highly competent team.”
