Bernicia have recently invested over £300,000 updating its retirement housing scheme, The Garth.
Located in Ferryhill, County Durham, The Garth is home to 45 residents. The scheme of 29 self-contained apartments and 12 bungalows, provides accommodation specifically designed for those over the age of 55.
The scheme has benefitted from new windows, a complete re-wire, and has also been redecorated.
As a North East company, Bernicia chose to use local contractors Sunters Limited and The Secura Group to carry out the renovations.
Louise Allen, service co-ordinator at Bernicia, who oversaw the project, said: “We have had great feedback from tenants regarding the improvement works at The Garth. The installation of white PVC windows, and the redecoration has created a modern and bright environment for our tenants to relax in and enjoy. The communal lounge has been decorated specifically in neutral tones, creating an inviting atmosphere.
