Bernicia & Able Construction partnership will bring new homes to Hebburn4th September 2017
Work to build 14 new homes on the site of a derelict, former workmen’s club has started at Witton Road, Hebburn.
The development will comprise of a selection of two and three bedroom rental properties in the popular area of South Tyneside, where the housing provider also offers family accommodation, a sheltered housing scheme and ‘care in the community’ bungalows.
Sharon Lake, programme manager at Bernicia, said: “We have recently worked with Able Construction (Northern) Ltd on a development scheme in Durham which has proven to be a great success, so when they approached us with the opportunity to expand our affordable housing offer at Witton Road, we were quick to continue our partnership.
“The development site is situated close to local schools, making it perfect for family life, and is almost equidistant between Hebburn and Jarrow, with excellent transport links for those wishing to take a trip to the town or shopping centres.”
Each property will have its own private driveway, garden and utility room. The area surrounding the development will also have ample visitor parking for family and friends. Access to eight of the properties will be available via Witton Road, with a new road being created for the remainder of the new homes.
Peter Fowle, managing director at Able Construction (Northern) Ltd, added: “We have a long and fruitful working relationship with Bernicia, and following the success of the Cuthbert Avenue development in Durham, Bernicia was the obvious choice to partner with on this housing scheme.”
The building work is set to take approximately one year to complete, with properties being available to rent from Bernicia by August 2018.
