Free Debt Advice on Offer for Local Residents

01 February 2011

Free advice and help on debt, housing and welfare benefits will be on offer to Ashington residents at an event being held next week.

The Ashington Advice Day on Friday 18th February will see a range of representatives coming together to offer help and advice to residents on a range of topics from Council tax and benefits, to employment and housing.

Representatives from Northumberland County Council’s Housing, Council Tax, Benefits Service and Northumberland Employability and Work Service will be joined by Money Guides, advisors from the Citizens Advice Bureau, DAWN (Advice) Ltd, Alderson Dodds Solicitors, Shelter, Northumberland Warm Zone and housing officers from Bernicia Group.

The day runs from 9am to 4pm in the Hirst Welfare Centre in Ashington but residents who would like to attend do need to make an appointment by calling 01670 522008.

Play Rangers from the County Council will be on hand to entertain children with games and face painting so that adults have the opportunity to talk to the experts about any issues they may have.

The event is one of ten taking place across the region on North East Advice Day and the day is designed so that staff will be able to work together to make sure people’s problems are dealt with in the best and quickest way possible.

For more information, please contact the Citizens Advice Bureau on 01670 522008.
