The best Christmas present ever!

Thursday, December 22, 2011

“The best Christmas present ever,” was how Lavinia Steele described her new bungalow when she welcomed VIPs visiting one of our latest developments. She is one of 9 residents who have moved into our new supported housing scheme at Hatfield Chase, on the site of the former Terrier public house in Bedlington.

Lavinia’s bungalow is one of ten in the first phase of our £7.4 million housing scheme which will eventually provide 20 bungalows and 39 units in a sheltered housing environment to replace the dated Glebe Court & Glebe Road schemes.

These developments will provide the right physical environment together with care and support services, enabling residents to live as independently as possible.
Our Chairman Ian Armstrong said:  “I am delighted that Lavinia and her neighbours are so pleased with their new homes, which represent our commitment to people who need just that bit of extra help to remain living in their communities.”

MP Ian Lavery added:  “This is a tremendous project, which will improve the quality of life for so many people and provide a really safe and sustainable neighbourhood in which they can retain a level of independence which might not otherwise be possible.”

Lavinia is pictured here serving up tea to Julie Young, Housing Services Manager from Northumberland County Council, Margaret Jones Commissioning Manager from Northumberland Care Trust, Ian Armstrong MBE Chair of Bernicia, and Ian Lavery MP for Wansbeck.
